4-H Camp
The Lindley G. Cook 4-H camp is located in Stokes State Forest in Northwestern New Jersey. The goal of the camp staff is to provide a safe, positive, and educational experience. Campers participate in outdoors activities such as, fishing, hiking, sports, boating and many more. New this year was a teen adventure camp, which is open to teens that have completed 10th and 11th grade. The adventure camp includes hiking, canoeing, tent camping and much more. For more information on 4-H camp, check out the web site at www.nj4hcamp.rutgers.edu.
Locally, Gloucester County 4-H offers a week-long Summer Enrichment "Prep" Camp for children entering into grades 1 through 4. In August 2003, camp was held at the Gloucester County 4-H Fairgrounds in Mullica Hill. Campers were placed in two levels, according to age and were assisted by volunteer counselors and staff. Campers were exposed to many different areas in a very fun and positive way. Children participated daily in meet and greet with live animals, science and nature projects and arts and crafts. They also learned about ways to take care of their environment and experienced a field trip to the Cohansick Zoo. If interested in receiving registration forms for the Summer Enrichment Prep Camp, please call 856-307-6450.
