Seeds to Success: Gloucester County's Youth Farmstand Project
Now in its 6th year, Seeds to Success combines year-round, in-school business training and lifeskills education with a paid summer work experience. From September through June, youth in Bankbridge Regional and Glassboro, Paulsboro and Woodbury High Schools receive training in a variety of work-related and health topics. During the summer, students apply this knowledge at Seeds to Success youth farmstands in Glassboro, Paulsboro and Woodbury.
Seeds to Success extends beyond workforce preparation. The farmstands are a unique example of economic development in at-risk communities. Youth serve communities by bringing new business and affordable, nutritious foods to residents of Glassboro, Paulsboro and Woodbury. They accept WIC and Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) vouchers and food stamps, too.
