Gloucester County 4-H Fair and NJ Peach Festival.

July 23-26, 2009, 4-H Fairgrounds, Route 77 South, Mullica Hill, NJ

The public is invited to the Gloucester County 4-H Fair to join in the celebration of the accomplishments of 4-H children who have worked throughout the year on a wide variety of educational programs. Visitors can watch our equestrians lead their horses in exercises in precision, place an auction bid on a hog or lamb raised by a 4-Her, see a bridge designed by the 4-H engineering club, watch the judging of our rabbit or goat shows, learn all about cows from dairy and beef club members, cheer for their favorite in the dog obedience class, learn how to raise an exotic bird from members of the exotic bird club, slither around to the reptile club exhibit, or watch a demonstration of the 4-H karate club.

In addition to the displays and shows of 4-H projects, visitors can look forward to carnival rides, magic shows, musical acts, civil war re-enactors, a lumberjack show, a baby parade, racing pigs, a frog and turtle race, a craft fair - lots for the whole family to do. The New Jersey Peach Festival runs concurrently with the 4-H fair. In addition to the crowning of the New Jersey Peach Queen and the awarding of the New Jersey Governors Cup for the best box of peaches, a wide variety of educational displays, and the sale of fresh juicy peaches and peach products are held.

Barbecue dinners are a nightly draw, and there are always lots of tasty snacks to be found like peach ice cream. The proceeds of the fair go to the programs, facilities, and services that benefit 4-H children throughout the year. The Gloucester County 4-H program is supported by Rutgers Cooperative Extension, The Gloucester County Board of Chosen Freeholders, private contributors, and the valued efforts of countless volunteers. The proceeds of the peach festival go to the promotion and marketing of New Jersey peaches. A parking donation of $10, good for all four days, is requested at the parking entrance.
